Thanksgiving Weekend Update

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, first and foremost. I know I did. Plenty of food and lots to be thankful for. Especially since a new edition has been added to the crew, Izaac Makoa Escobar.

Back to the topic at hand though, my weight-loss regimine has been teetering on a slippery slope. The past two weeks I have not been sticking to my plan on going to the pool and getting my Michael Phelps on. I feel horrible about it. Also, because of the holiday, I have been eating quite heavily. Between the holiday, my boy coming down from PA, and just the overall temptations, I ate a burger, fries, Cinnabon, and other various goodies I should not have.

My brother did, though, break out his Nintendo Wii and opened up the Wii Fit which I did try out. According to the Wii, I am 318+ lbs. If this is accurate, which I'm sure it is, that would mean I have lost additional weight since the last update. Won't know for sure until I see Sharon again later this month. But the Wii Fit definitely got my heart rate up a bit, and was really fun. I might have to splurge a bit and get one for my Wii.

Well, that is the update for now. I'll try to write more often to keep those of you who are reading. Primarily though, I see this as being more of a journal for myself, haha. Doubt this is being read by anyone.

Follow Up...

Monday, I was supposed to see Sharon again to see how I am doing with the plan we had both agreed on, but she had a family emergency so we rescheduled it for yesterday.

Great news! I stepped on the scale and it read 326.0 lbs! That is a total of 14.2 lbs lost in 4 weeks. My next (personal) goal is to lose another 10 lbs by the time Sharon and I meet again, which will be December 18th. This will pose a challenge seeing how Thanksgiving is right around the corner. But I've been strong-willed and determined so far and I'm sure I'll manage just fine.

My year-end (personal, again) goal is to be as close to or under 300 lbs by January 1st. This means I will have to lose at least an additional 26+ lbs in the next month and a half. I've lost 14 lbs in 4 weeks, so adding some exercise to the plan, hitting 30 lbs in 6 weeks shouldn't be that hard....right?

Now and Then...

On October 15th, I saw a dietitian because I was told I am pre-diabetic. Which is good and bad. The bad is obvious, but the good is the fact that I'm now aware of it and am able to change it before it is too late. When I had weighed in, I was at 340.2 lbs and was given the goal to lose 10% in one years time. Sounds pretty reasonable, but was told I could accomplish that within half that time.

The plan to do all this was simple. My dietitian, Sharon, told me to cut back on sugary drinks (such as juice and sodas) which I have done. I primarily drink water and light/diet drinks. Also, I've cut back on fried foods, and foods high in calories and fat. I was tasked to also exercise more, which to be honest, I have not been doing. I did, though, start swimming laps at the Aquatic Center in Cecil Commerce Center every Monday. This past Monday though, I weighed in at my parent's house, and then again at Jelly's house, to kind of gauge how I'm doing before I see Sharon again next Monday. At my parent's, the weigh-in was 320 lbs, at Jelly's was 330.5 lbs. If any of these are correct, that would mean I lost 10-20 lbs in a three-week period which is phenomonal. I've already reached 33-66% of my goal in 10% of the time. I'm very excited. I just have to now continue this trend, and also add in more exercise.

More updates to come!
